Dr. Maya Tong 

Dr, Maya Tong is an Associate Professor at Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University. Her practice is based at the Ivey Eye Institute with a focus on cornea, anterior segment, and cataracts. 

Before completing her Doctor of Medicine at UBC, she moved to Europe where she worked at the Netherlands Institute for Innovative Ocular Surgery as an eye bank technician and clinical researcher. She completed her Ophthalmology specialization at the University of Alberta and her fellowship in adult and pediatric cornea and anterior segment surgery at the University of Montreal. She worked in BC and the Northwest Territories before moving to Ontario. 

Throughout her career, Dr. Tong has contributed to over 35 unique scientific publications and 5 textbooks, and served as an invited speaker at over 45 conferences and teaching events. Dr. Tong has a particular interest in international ophthalmology having provided surgical eye care in Mongolia, India, and Cameroon.
