Dr. Davin Johnson MD FRCSC

Dr. Johnson is an assistant professor of Ophthalmology at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.  Dr. Johnson completed residency at Queen’s University in 2015, working as a comprehensive ophthalmologist before later completing fellowship training in Cornea/Anterior Segment at the University of Montreal in 2017.  Currently, Dr. Johnson’s clinical practice encompasses cataract surgery, corneal surgery, and refractive surgery. He is actively involved in teaching residents, and is especially proud to see several residents from Queen’s currently in practice in Atlantic Canada.

While Dr. Johnson’s main focus is as a clinician, he also keeps a small research profile with diverse research interests including access to care for cataract surgery,  corneal edema after glaucoma surgery and early detection of keratoconus.  He has also authored two papers as part of JAMA’s Rational Clinical Examination series.

Since 2019, Dr. Johnson has served as the medical director at Focus Eye Centre in both Kingston and Ottawa.  At both centres, Dr. Johnson has facilitated funding arrangements for provincially-funded cataract surgeries to be performed out of hospital which has reduced surgical waitlists in the two centres.

Outside of work, Dr. Johnson enjoys golfing and spending time with his wife and two children.  He and his family are especially busy in the springtime, operating a small commercial maple syrup farm.
